FHI
We were looking for a good search engine with the possibility to track visitor's behavior and a chance to push the visitors towards selected content. Our interest was caught when studying MondoSearch Professional
Kristian Palm, Web Editor, FHI
The Problem
FHI (The Swedish National Institute of Public Health) is a national knowledge center in Sweden. Their main task is to deliver information to improve Sweden's public health. With more that 80,000 visitors to their site
www.fhi.se and about 13,000 searches every month, they realized that collecting information about the search words used by visitors would help point them to the information FHI wants them to see.
The Solution
In the autumn of 2004 FHI visited an ElektroPost event in Sweden.
We were looking for a search engine and a way to track visitor's behavior and direct visitors to selected content. MondoSearch Professional presented an interesting solution
says Kristian Palm, Web Editor at FHI. “Our website contains a lot of information and I think effective searching is the best way to find the right information”, he continues. FHI's current installation and the large number of searches every month represents a foundation for good behavior analysis using BehaviorTracking, the search analytics tool included in MondoSearch Professional.
FHI already had EPiServer, the content management system (CMS) developed by ElektroPost, and it was important that the new search engine integrate with EPiServer. MondoSearch Professional with its tight integration with EPiServer, made it the natural choice. Technically such integration is a huge advantage for the administrator because they only have to learn one administration interface – in this case the well-known EPiServer interface.
The Benefits
Now that FHI has access to search statistics they already see benefits and are allocating resources to improving the site according to the analytics delivered by the system. “We are putting together a group internally including representatives from all parts of FHI to deal with general issues of our web publishing. BehaviorTracking data and the stats from the website will play an important part in that work” says Kristian Palm.
FHI works closely with Meridium, a certified partner with both ElektroPost and Mondosoft, to optimize and develop the site. Meridum is very familiar with EPiServer and had been struggling to search content generated by sources other than EPiServer. After successfully installing MondoSearch Professional for FHI, they realized the product's potential, and could solve the problem retrieving the content for another customer by introducing MondoSearch.
